Ugne Pouwell is a fine art photographer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Photography and Digital Imaging Technologies, awarded in London in 2016. She began her career in commercial photography before transitioning into fine art, where she found a deeper connection with timeless expression and material process.
Working primarily with black and white film and a large format camera, Ugne’s practice is rooted in the intricate beauty of botanicals, natural forms, and the atmospheric qualities of light. Her work emphasises minimal subject isolation, using monochromatic tones to reveal the delicate structures and abstract qualities of the natural world.
In her studio, Ugne develops and prints limited edition collections, placing importance on the tactile presence of the physical print in an increasingly digital age. Her photographs invite contemplation of nature’s fragility, complexity, and enduring beauty, creating works that speak beyond cultural boundaries.
